About Cassandra

Cassandra is a philosophy, an ancient tale that recognizes a reality that applies to sexual assault victim's ongoing issues.

The story goes that Zeus decided that he would have his way with Cassandra and to impress her he gave her the gift of prophecy. Cassandra was not so impressed that she was prepared to succumb to Zeus' advances.

In response to his rejection Zeus left Cassandra with the gift of prophecy but cursed her so that she would never be believed. Cassandra saw the fall of Troy but no one would believe her. The curse of seeing the dooms awaiting humanity combined with the inability to do anything about it drove Cassandra insane.

If a person is a Cassandra then the curse they suffer is known as the Cassandra Complex. A situation sexual abuse victims are all to familiar with.
